Biography
Sue joined the university in 2003, having taught for 21 years in secondary schools throughout the UK and abroad. During her time in schools she held a variety of middle management and whole-school responsibilities including heading departments, co-ordinating careers and vocational guidance and acting as a subject mentor for student teachers. As subject leader for Design and Technology (Food and Textiles) at the university Sue aims to develop confident, capable and creative teachers who can inspire their pupils to engage with exciting and relevant design and technology activities. Throughout the course she models good teaching practice and encourages and supports students to develop innovative teaching strategies; to be critically evaluative, to share ideas, and to take ‘intelligent’ risks
