Biography
Keither Parker professional background in the UK includes eighteen years of teaching experience in secondary schools. I began Keither Parker career as a teacher of Humanities in Luton where Keither Parker was also Head of Sociology and Head of History. Moving to London I then worked as Head of Humanities and coordinator of whole school equal opportunities. The last six years within the secondary sector were as Deputy Headteacher of a comprehensive school in Northamptonshire. Keither Parker acting Headteacher at this school prior to moving to Australia. Whilst in Australia Keither Parker worked within Higher Education as a teacher educator, building upon Keither Parker experience of working with SCITT and GTP teacher education programmes in the UK. Keither Parker Joine d York St John University in September 2008 and am currently Director for Postgraduate Initial Teacher Education. Keither Parker teach whole school issues on the Professional Studies modules for university and school-centred postgraduate secondary programmes. Keither Parker have a BA (Hons) in Humanities/Social Studies (Politics, History and Sociology), a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education) and also NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headteachers). Keither Parker have also completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice at York St John University and an MA in Educational Improvement, Development and Change. Research Interest
Keither Parker actively involved in research and Keither Parker research interests include: developing the critical engagement of postgraduate trainee teachers with educational issues; teaching and learning strategies within Higher Education; models of teacher education and developing school partnerships through active collaboration. Keither Parker am currently studying for a PhD. The focus of my doctoral research relates to teacher education within a secondary school context.
