Biography
Joe obtained his BS degree in Biochemistry and Biophysics from Oregon State University. He completed a PhD in Immunology, followed by postdoctoral work at the University of Connecticut Health Center. His early research focused on the effect of costimulatory receptors, inflammatory cytokines, and adjuvants on T cell clonal expansion and survival. Over the last 12 years, Joe has established expertise in mucosal immunology and inflammatory bowel disease while in the Inflammation Research group at Amgen in Seattle, WA, and the Foundational Immunology group at AbbVie in Worcester, MA. His research groups established in vitro and in vivo models of epithelial function and repair and guided the pursuit of new targets for inflammatory disease using small and large molecule approaches.
