Biography

Dr. Skagen is originally from Duluth, Minnesota. She completed her medical school, residency, and gastroenterology/hepatology fellowship training at the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Skagen joined Minnesota Gastroenterology in 2010. Special Interests Pregnancy-related gastrointestinal disease Liver disease Inflammatory bowel disease Accomplishments Dr. Skagen is a three-time recipient of the David Wissler Award for excellence in gastrointestinal research at the University of Wisconsin. She has been a presenter at Digestive Disease Week, an annual international conference of GI professionals. She has published several review and research articles in the field of hepatology. She is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha and Phi Beta Kappa honor societies and was the recipient of the Donald F. Worden Memorial Scholarship, "in recognition of demonstrated devotion to the care and comfort of fellow human beings."
