Biography

Nicole E. Minniefield, MD, is an Assistant Professor at UT Southwestern, with clinical responsibilities as a non-invasive cardiologist at the Dallas VA Medical Center. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Association of Black Cardiologists, as well as the regional American Heart Association Community Task Force Initiative and has been awarded the 2009 Joanne McWhorter Outstanding Fellow Award. Her areas of research interest include CV health disparities among African Americans and elucidating early non-invasive markers of cardiac dysfunction in an attempt to reduce disparate rates of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality within the African American population. Additionally, she is committed to linking community education programs and community based participatory research for this effort. Dr. Minniefield has been called to a life of service and is the proud mother of two. She believes that God has allowed her to be where she is in order to educate and give back to the community. Her community involvement includes working closely with the UT Southwestern/UNT GoodNEWS project targeting CV awareness and education for local south Dallas church congregations. Dr. Minniefield has spoken locally to various groups such as Alpha Kappa Alpha Inc Sorority and the North Texas Business & Professional Women’s League, on Women’s Health and Heart Disease Awareness for African American women.
