Brett J. Hart

Biography

 Mr. Brett J. Hart has been the Chief Administrative Officer, Executive Vice President and General Counsel at United Airlines, Inc. since June 22, 2017 and February 2012 respectively. Mr. Hart has been the Chief Administrative Officer of United Continental Holdings, Inc. and its General Counsel since March 14, 2016 and served as its Executive Vice President from March 14, 2016 to June 15, 2017. Mr. Hart served as Acting Chief Executive Officer of United Continental Holdings, Inc. and United Airlines, Inc from October 20, 2015 to March 14, 2016. Mr. Hart has been principal executive officer at United Continental Holdings, Inc .since October 2015. He previously served as Executive Vice President of United Continental Holdings, Inc and United Airlines, Inc. from February 2012 to October 20, 2015. He served as General Counsel and Secretary of United Continental Holdings, Inc. and United Airlines, Inc. from December 15, 2010 to October 20, 2015. He served as Senior Vice President of United Continental Holdings, Inc. and United Airlines, Inc from December 2010 to February 2012. Mr. Hart was responsible for managing United's legal and environmental affairs, corporate security, customer experience, contact centers, food services, corporate real estate worldwide, government affairs, community affairs and international, regulatory and policy matters for the airline. Prior to joining United in 2010, he served as General Counsel and Executive Vice President of The Hillshire Brands Company (Sara Lee Corporation) from June 2009 to December 2010 and served as its Corporate Secretary until December 2010. He served as Corporate Officer of The Hillshire Brands Company since January 26, 2006 and Global Business Practices Officer since 2005. He served as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of The Hillshire Brands Company from 2005 to May 2009 and also served as its Global Compliance Officer until May 2009. He joined Hillshire in 2003 as an Assistant General Counsel. He was a Partner with Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal in Chicago. He served as Special Assistant to the General Counsel at the U.S. Department of the Treasury in Washington, D.C. He has been an Independent Director of AbbVie Inc. since 2016. He served as a Director of United Airlines, Inc. Mr. Hart holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and English from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Chicago Law School.
