Biography
Mr. Edward M. Liddy, also known as Ed, serves as the Chairman of ServiceMaster Global Holdings Inc. Mr. Liddy serves as Chairman Emeritus of Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He has been an Independent Director of AbbVie Inc. since January 1, 2013; The Boeing Company since June 7, 2010; Abbott Laboratories since 2010 and 3M Company since 2000. He serves as a Member of Board of Governors of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Inc. and served as its Chairman Emeritus. He serves as a Director of Museum of Science and Industry and Northwestern University. He was a Partner and Operating Partner at Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, Inc. Mr. Liddy joined CD&R in January 2008. He rejoined Clayton Dubilier & Rice LLC in January 2010 as Partner till December 2015. He joined the Clayton Dubilier & Rice LLC initially in 2008 and was its Partner from April 2008 to September 2008. He served as the Global Co-Head of the Securities Division at The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. until January 2012. He served as the Interim Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American International Group, Inc., from September 18, 2008 to August 10, 2009 and served as its President. Mr. Liddy served in The Allstate Corporation for many years as the Chairman from January 1999 to April 30, 2008 and Chief Executive Officer from January 1999 to December 2006 and other senior executive positions, leading the initial public offering. He served as the President of Allstate Corp. from January 1995 to May 2005 and Chief Operating Officer from August 1994 to January 1999. He served as the President of Allstate Insurance Company (AIC) and served as its Chief Executive Officer from January 1999 to December 31, 2006. He served as the Chairman and Director of Allstate Insurance Company from January 1999 to April 30, 2008. He joined Allstate in August 1994. Since February 1992, he served as the Chief Financial Officer, Senior Vice President and Senior Vice President of Operating at Sears, Roebuck and Co. where he held a variety of senior operating and financial positions since 1988. He served as an Executive Vice President at ADT, Inc. from 1986 to 1988. He served as the President of American International Group Inc. and American Life Insurance Company. Mr. Liddy served as the Chief Executive Officer of AIC until December 31, 2006 and served as its President. He served as a Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of G. D. Searle LLC and served for seven years in a series of positions. He served as a Director of Allstate Life Insurance Company. He served as a Director of The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. from June 24, 2003 to September 23, 2008, The Boeing Company from August 28, 2007 to October 2008, The Kroger Co. from 1996 to January 19, 2006 and 3M Canada Company since 2000. He served as the Chairman of Nan Shan Life Insurance Company, Ltd. from September 18, 2008 to August 10, 2009. He served as the Chairman of AIC. He served as the Chairman and Cardiovascular Devices, Inc. He served as Chairman of US Foods, Inc., and USF Holding until January 2, 2016. Mr. Liddy served as a Director of ADT Inc., 3M Cardiovascular Devices, Inc., 3M Precision Optics, Inc. and Northwestern Memorial HealthCare Corporation. He served as Chairman Emeritus of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Inc. Mr. Liddy holds a B.A. from Catholic University of America in 1968 and earned an MBA from George Washington University in 1972.
