Biography
Steve Scott is the divisional vice president of Technical Operations for Abbott’s diabetes care business. Based in Alameda, California, he leads the worldwide diabetes research and development organization, including R&D, medical, scientific, and clinical affairs groups covering medical products research design and development. Steve is an expert in diabetes monitoring technologies, dedicated to developing innovative products that help people with diabetes live healthier and more active lives. Steve has deep experience in diabetes, having led the development of more than 25 successful product launches within the diabetes space from conception to commercialization. Steve is a member of the Abbott Scientific Governing Board. He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, and has completed executive development programs at Cornell University, NY and INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.
Research Interest
Among his accomplishments, Steve led the research and development of a wide array of Abbott’s diabetes care products, including the no-calibration FreeStyle Libre* system. Steve leads development efforts behind the innovative new FreeStyle Libre system, a sensor-based glucose monitoring solution that eliminates the need for routine finger pricks.
