Biography
Mr. Clayton I. Duncan serves as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Otologic Pharmaceutics, Inc. Mr. Duncan is the Co-Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Synereca Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Mr. Duncan is the Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Accele BioPharma, Inc. Mr. Duncan serves as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Pamlico Biopharma, Inc. He serves as the Managing Director of Accele Venture Partners L.P. Mr. Duncan has over 20 years’ experience as a biopharmaceutical Chief Executive Officer, working with scientific founders and employees to direct research toward effective drug discovery and development. Before joining Accele Biopharma, he served as Chief Executive Officer for seven biopharmaceutical companies in the Research Triangle Park area, including Synereca Pharmaceuticals, Vindica Therapeutics, Entegrion and CRX Medical. Mr. Duncan served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Aeolus Pharmaceuticals Inc. (formerly, Incara Pharmaceuticals Corp.) from January 1995 to May 2004 and served as its Consultant since 2004. Mr. Duncan served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ercole Biotech, Inc. From 1989 to December 1993, Mr. Duncan served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Sphinx Pharmaceuticals Corporation, a biopharmaceutical company which was acquired by Eli Lilly and Company in September 1994. From December 1993 to September 1994, he served as an Independent Consultant to Sphinx with regard to the sale of Sphinx to Lilly. From 1987 to 1989, Mr. Duncan was a General Partner of Intersouth Partners, a venture capital firm. From 1979 to 1987, he was an executive with Carolina Securities Corporation, a regional investment banking firm, serving as Executive Vice President and a director from 1984 to 1987. In addition, Mr. Duncan serves as Chairman of the Carolina Ballet, a professional ballet company. Mr. Duncan was the Founder and Chairman of the Board of CRX Medical Inc., a medical products company that conducted research and development in wound management, ophthalmic disorders and interventional radiology. Mr. Duncan served as the Chairman of Incara Pharmaceuticals Corp. from April 2000 to 2004. Mr. Duncan serves as a Director of Incara Development Ltd., CPEC LLC and Incara Cell Technologies Inc., all of which are subsidiaries of Incara. He served as a Director of Aeolus Pharmaceuticals Inc. from January 1995 to May 2004. He received an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MA from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
