Andrew R. Blight

Biography

Dr. Andrew R. Blight, Ph.D, has been the Chief Scientific Officer Emeritus of Acorda Therapeutics, Inc. since June 23, 2017 and served as its Chief Scientific Officer from January 2004 to June 23, 2017. Dr. Blight served as Acorda Therapeutics Inc.'s Executive Vice President of Research & Development from 2000 to 2004 and was Vice President from 1998 to 2000. He joined Acorda Therapeutics, Inc. in 1998. He held faculty positions at New York University Medical Center (1980-1987), Purdue University (1987-1992) and the University of North Carolina where he was Professor and Director of the Neurosurgery Research Laboratory from 1992-1998. In academia, Dr. Blight specialized in research on the pathophysiology of spinal cord injury (SCI), particularly on the role of inflammation and demyelination.
