Steve Matthesen

Biography

 Mr. Steve Matthesen has been the Chief Executive Officer and President of Acosta, Inc. since September 06, 2016. Mr. Matthesen has more than 20 years of experience in consumer data, analytics, business strategy and operations. Mr. Matthesen joined Acosta from The Nielsen Company, where he served as President of Global Retail, responsible for leading Nielsen’s retailer relationships in more than 100 countries around the world. Mr. Matthesen served as President of Latin America at Nielsen Holdings plc from November 2014 to June 01, 2016 and is leading Watch and Buy businesses across Mexico, Central and South America. Mr. Matthesen served in Product Leadership team at Nielsen, where he launched new practice structure, leading two of four practice areas — Consumer Activation and Innovation — as well as new non-CPG verticals, Financial Services, Automotive and Public Development & Sustainability. He was also responsible for non-CPG segmentation business (formerly known as Claritas) and created the new non-CPG business unit in North America at Nielsen. He joined Nielsen in 2009 as Executive Vice President, where he led manufacturer relationships in North America for four years. He grew this into a billion dollar business growing double digits annually by delivering enhanced analytics and client service, driving both strong organic growth and competitive wins. Before joining Nielsen, he was a Partner and Managing Director at The Boston Consulting Group, working with leading companies in media, consumer goods, and retail with a focus on driving sustainable performance improvement. Early in his career, he was part of the space program, where he managed a team of engineers and scientists on numerous projects to deliver military and scientific satellites into space. He also served in the U.S. Air Force at the Space and Missile Systems Center. Mr. Matthesen holds an MBA from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania, an M.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Southern California and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Duke University.
