Research Interest
Fall 2017 Lab Opportunities: Dr. Chana Etengoff studies cultural, sexual and gender minorities’ intersectional identity development and resilience. Her research is guided by the following questions: How do cultural, sexual and gender minority groups navigate interpersonal and identity related conflicts? What motivates individuals and systems to change these dynamics? How do individuals develop amidst adverse circumstances? Dr. Etengoff is currently addressing these questions with two primary studies: The LGBTQ Muslim Experience Study and the Transvlog Project. This is Dr. Etengoff’s first semester on campus, so the Intersectional Development Lab’s initial work will focus on online recruitment of LGBTQ Muslim participants in Turkey, translating collected Indonesian responses, and translating the LGBTQ Muslim Experience survey into Arabic for future recruitment efforts. Research assistants fluent in Indonesian, Turkish, and Arabic are needed to assist with participant recruitment and translation work. Motivated research assistants will also have the opportunity to gain experience with a broad range of activities including: participant recruitment, data coding and management, literature reviews, statistical analysis and conference presentations
