Richard Garner completed Phi Beta Kappa, Princeton, 1975 Banchko Prize (Slavic), Princeton, 1975 Junior Fellow, Society of Fellows, Harvard University, 1980-1983 Galler Dissertation Prize, University of Chicago, 1983-1984 Yale College-Sidonie Miskimin Clauss Prize for Teaching Excellence in the Humanities, 1986 Sarai Ribicoff Award for the Encouragement of Teaching in Yale College, 1986 William Clyde DeVane Medal for Distinguished Scholarship and Teaching in Yale College-Phi Beta Kappa, 1992 Elected as Loeb Lecturer, Harvard University, 1994.
