Stephen S. Rubin completed Ph.D., University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1995) M.A., University of South Dakota (1990) B.S., State University of New York at Oswego (1980).Recipient of the National Outstanding Dissertation and New Researcher Award: Academy on Mental Retardation of the American Association on Mental Retardation, San Antonio, Texas, June 1996. Listed in Who's Who in American Education (1992-1993 Edition) Chicago, Illinois. Recipient of Outstanding Graduate Student in Special Education Award: University of South Dakota, April 1990.
