Biography
Chris is the President and Founder of TRIA Biosciences, which is focused on the discovery and validation of immune-based protein and peptide-based therapeutics. Previous positions include Vice President of Science Affairs at Immune Design Corp where he supervised the research of a vaccine adjuvant currently being tested in Phase 2 clinical studies. Prior to this, he was the founding head of both the Immunology and Oncology departments at ZymoGenetics Inc., where he originated the research plan for an inflammatory molecule, Interleukin 21 as a therapy for melanoma and renal cell carcinoma, which resulted in a Phase 1 clinical study (subsequently licensed to Bristol-Myers Squibb). He also supervised the discovery and preclinical validation of Atacicept for lupus, which reached Phase 2 clinical trials (licensed to Merck-Serono), and supervised the discovery and preclinical validation of an inflammatory mediator, Interleukin Lambda, which reached Phase 2 clinical testing for hepatitis C infection (licensed to Bristol-Myers Squibb). Earlier in his career, he established the mouse Molecule Genetics Department at the Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceutical Research Institute (Seattle), where tested the activity of a number of genes associated with inflammatory and immunological diseases in genetically modified mice. Chris received his PhD and performed postdoctoral training in the departments of biochemistry and pharmacology at the University of Washington.
