David R. Edmondson

Biography

David R. Edmondson is vice president and project director‒Jazan at Air Products. He has overall responsibility for the company’s integrated gasification combined-cycle air separation unit project in Saudi Arabia.  Mr. Edmondson joined Air Products in 1987 and has held a variety of roles in Engineering and business segments, including project management, project development, sales and business management. In 1997 he became Generated Gases product supply team manager, Europe, and in 1998 he was named general manager for Generated Gases, Europe, accountable for the Generated Gases European business and global sale of equipment business. In 2002 Mr. Edmondson assumed the role of director and general manager of the European Electronics business, which provided him with an opportunity to broaden his horizons and gain experience in a different part of Air Products’ business portfolio. This was a period of considerable change with a major acquisition to oversee and the introduction of SAP during a difficult time for the Electronics industry as a whole. Mr. Edmondson moved back into Engineering in 2002 as vice president of Engineering in Europe with general management responsibility for the European Engineering teams, as well as accountability for the global Cryogenic Systems Engineering and Manufacturing teams and the India Engineering team. In 2012 he relocated to Shanghai, assuming the role of vice president of Engineering in Asia, with regional general management responsibilities for the Asia Engineering and Manufacturing teams while still retaining accountability for the global Cryogenic Systems Engineering and Manufacturing teams. In 2015 Mr. Edmondson returned to Europe, where he assumed his current position.  Mr. Edmondson has represented Air Products’ interests on the British Chemical Engineering Contractors Association and was chair from 2013-2015. He has also represented Air Products at the Confederation of British Industries and has held director roles on the boards of Air Products Norway, Air Products India and INOX Air Products—Air Products’ joint venture partner in India.

Research Interest

Mr. Edmondson holds a B.S. degree in civil engineering from Liverpool. He also has a Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance, an MBA from Kingston University, and is a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. Mr. Edmondson began his career with CB&I Constructors, where his last project before joining Air Products was for the design and supply of Air Products’ liquid hydrogen sphere in Rozenburg.
