Biography
Dr. Preeti Kishore is an Associate Professor in the Division of Endocrinology. Her research interest has been in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) and the Insulin resistance syndrome. She is interested in investigating the pathogenic role of free fatty acids in various aspects of T2DM, particularly the role they play in regulating “glucose effectiveness”. She is also interested in the role of adipose tissue inflammation in the pathogenesis of the metabolic syndrome. As an extension to her interest in adipose inflammation, she is investigating the role of vitamin D deficiency in Type 2 diabetes and whether it may promote adipose inflammation. Dr. Kishore is the recipient of the prestigious Henry Christian Award of the American Federation of Medical Research and her research is currently supported by the American Diabetes Association. In addition to research, she actively participates in the teaching of endocrine fellows, medical residents and medical students.
