Biography
Dr. Steven George is the Co-Founder, Scientific Advisory Board at ALD nanosolutions. He is a Professor in the Dept. of Chemistry and Biochemistry and Dept. of Chemical and Biological Engineering at CU-Boulder. He has more than 250 peer-reviewed publications in the areas of surface science, thin film growth and physical chemistry. He also currently has 11 issued U.S. Patents and 8 U.S. Patent applications. His research interests are in the areas of surface chemistry, thin film growth and nanostructure engineering. He is currently directing an internationally recognized research effort focusing on atomic layer deposition (ALD) and molecular layer deposition (MLD). This ALD & MLD research is examining new surface chemistry, measuring thin film growth rates, characterizing the properties of films and developing new reactors for ALD & MLD. He chaired the first Topical Conference on Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD 2001) in May 2001 in Monterey, CA sponsored by the American Vacuum Society (AVS). He has been on the Conference Committees of all subsequent ALD meetings including the ALD2010 meeting in Seoul, Korea. He is very active in the AVS. He teaches a one-day short course on ALD for the AVS. He recently finished a three-year term as Trustee of the AVS (2007-2009) and was Chair of the Trustees (2009). In addition, he is now on the Board of Directors of the AVS (2010-2012). He has received a number of awards including an NSF Presidential Young Investigator Award (1988-1993), an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Fellowship (1988) and an NSF Creativity Award (2002-2004). He also was a member of the Defense Science Study Group (1989-1991). He is a Fellow of the American Vacuum Society (2000) and a Fellow of the American Physical Society (1997). Dr. George received his B.S. in Chemistry from Yale University (1977) and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from UC – Berkeley (1983).
