Biography
Nelson Chun is senior vice president and chief legal officer of Alexander & Baldwin. He joined A&B in November 2003 as vice president and general counsel. Prior to joining A&B, he was a partner at Honolulu law firm Cades Schutte. He joined the organization in 1978 and became a partner in 1983. He served as a member of the firm’s Management Committee and Partner Compensation Committee and was chairman of the firm’s Business Organizations Practice Group and its Health Care Practice Group. While in private practice, Chun was elected by his peers as one of “America’s Best Lawyers” and as one of “America’s Leading Business Lawyers,” as noted in the Chambers and Partners USA Guide. Before joining Cades Schutte, Chun served as a law clerk to The Honorable Dick Yin Wong, Judge, United States District Court, District of Hawaii, from 1977 to 1978. Education and community commitment Chun is a 1974 graduate of Claremont McKenna College and a 1977 graduate of Northwestern University School of Law.
