Stuart D. Shanler, M.D., co-founded Aclaris Therapeutics and has served as Chief Scientific Officer since its inception in July 2012. He has nearly 20 years of experience as a dermatologist. Between July 2011 and July 2012, Dr. Shanler served as a consultant to a number of pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Shanler co-invented a topical rosacea drug for, and co-founded and served as Chief Scientific Officer of Vicept Therapeutics, Inc. from 2009 until its acquisition by Allergan plc in July 2011. Previously, Dr. Shanler was a dermatologic surgeon in private practice. Dr. Shanler is a board-certified dermatologist and received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Albany Medical College of Union University and received Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and the Biological Basis of Behavior from the University of Pennsylvania.
