Biography

    Mr. Richard P. Lavin, also known as Rich, served as the Chief Executive Officer and President, Commercial Vehicle Group, Inc. Mr. Lavin has been an Independent Director of ITT Inc. since May 07, 2013. Mr. Lavin has been an Independent Director of Allison Transmission Holdings, Inc. since March 11, 2016. He has been Director of USG Corporation since November 2009. He serves as a Director at United States Gypsum Company and The U.S.-India Business Council. He serves as a Director of the U.S. Korea Business Council. He is a broad-based business leader, with experience in legal, marketing, product management and service center operations. He spent over 28 years of global experience with Caterpillar Inc. He served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Commercial Vehicle Group Inc. from May 28, 2013 to November 20, 2015. He served as the Group President of Construction Industries & Growth Markets at Caterpillar Inc. from December 1, 2007 to December 31, 2012. Mr. Lavin served as a Vice President of Caterpillar Inc. from 2001 to July 1, 2004 and served as its Vice President of Operations for Asia Pacific Division since July 1, 2004. He led the Caterpillar Inc.'s people initiatives with administrative responsibility for the Human Services Division, including Caterpillar University, Compensation, Benefits, Corporate Medical, Corporate Public Affairs, Corporate Security & Aviation Services, Human Relations, Global H.R. Shared Services and Succession Management. He served as Product Manager, Track-Type Tractors Division of Caterpillar Inc. from 1996 to 1998 and served as its Director of Corporate Human Relations from 1998 to 1999 and also Director of Compensation & Benefits from 1999 to 2001. He joined Caterpillar Inc. in 1984 as an Attorney in the legal department. At Caterpillar Inc., Mr. Lavin served as Director of Corporate Human Relations from 1998 to 1999 when he served as Director of Compensation and Benefits with worldwide responsibility for its pay and benefits programs. He served as the Chairman of Shin Caterpillar Mitsubishi Ltd. and had administrative responsibility for operations in the region, including manufacturing facilities in China, India, Indonesia and Japan. He served as Director of Commercial Vehicle Group Inc from August 2013 November 20, 2015. He served as a Director of US-China Business Council, Inc. He is a member of The Conference Board and the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. He serves on the International Advisory Council of Guanghua School of Management at Peking University and is on the Board of Trustees at Bradley University and Saint Mary of the Woods College. He completed a Brookings Institute program. Mr. Lavin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Illinois University, a Juris Doctor degree from Creighton University and a Master of Laws degree from Georgetown University. In 1996, he completed an Advanced Management Program at Carnegie Mellon University.
