Biography

Dr. Thompson earned a BS in Physical Therapy from Russell Sage College in 1983, clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from University of the Pacific in 2004, and her Doctor of Science (DSc) in Advanced Neurology in 2011 from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions (Provo, UT). Her research is in the investigation of mechanisms underlying balance and postural sway of low and high fall risk community dwelling older adults, specifically utilizing Inertial Measurement and Non-linear analysis tools. She has presented her collaborative work, along with highly successful student research projects, both at the state and national levels in PT, ATC, Geriatrics and Neurosciences. Research Interest

Marcia's clinical focus has been geriatrics, neurology, and vestibular, with a focus on fall risk identification and management. She practices on a consultant basis, maintaining licenses in PA, FL and WA. She has been an active member of the Neurology Section and the Vestibular & Balance Special Interest Groups (SIGs) of the American Physical Therapy Association. She has advanced competencies & certifications in Adult NDT (Neuro Developmental Treatment) and Vestibular Rehabilitation and Vestibular Test Interpretation (Emory University/Herdman et.al.).
