Jerry T. Jackson

Biography

Mr. Jerry T. Jackson served as an Executive Vice President of Merck & Co., Inc. from 1993 to 1995. During this time, Mr. Jackson had responsibility for Merck's International Human Health Division, Worldwide Human Vaccines, the AgVet Division, Astra/Merck U.S. Operations and Worldwide Marketing. During 1993, Mr. Jackson served as the President of the Worldwide Human Health Division. He served as Senior Vice President of Merck from 1991 to 1992 responsible for Merck's Specialty Chemicals and previously, he served as the President of Merck's Sharp & Dohme International. From 1965 until his retirement in 1995, Mr. Jackson held numerous management and senior executive management positions within the sales and marketing organization at Merck & Co., Inc. During this time, he had extensive experience in sales, marketing and corporate management, including joint ventures. He served as the President of Merck's International Division from 1988 to 1991. He served as the Chairman of Transcend Therapeutics, Inc., since May 1996. He has been a Director of Gilead Colorado, Inc. since September 2002 and is Chairman of Nominating and Corporate Governance Committees. He has been a Director of Crescendo Pharmaceuticals Corp., since 1997, Alza Corporation since January 1, 2001 and Molecular Biosystems Inc., since December 1996. Mr. Jackson serves as a Director of Langford I.C. Systems, Inc., a small pharmaceutical company and MDEDGE, Inc. Mr. Jackson also serves as a Director of several biotech pharmaceutical companies. He served as a Director of SunPharm Corporation since August 1996 and was a member of the Compensation and Option Committees. He served as a Director of Intrabiotics Pharmaceuticals Inc., from August 2002 to June 2005 and was a Member of Audit, Nominating, Compensation and Corporate Governance Committees. He served as a Director of Alexion Pharmaceuticals Inc. from September 1999 to December 10, 2004. He served as a Director of COR Therapeutics, Inc., since March 1995 and was a Member of the Audit and Compensation Committees. He served as a Director of Transcend Therapeutics, Inc., since September 1995. He received his B.A. in Education from University of New Mexico in 1964.
