Biography
Kim I. Mills, MA, is APA's interim senior communications advisor, responsible for the strategic planning and high-level coordination of content generation, and oversight of external Public Affairs and staff communications. She also leads a cross-directorate communications team charged with planning, coordination and development of various content (written, video, audio and graphic) for distribution through APA's communication channels (website, social media, email and magazine). She joined APA in 2007 as deputy executive director of what was then Public and Member Communications. Before joining APA, Mills spent two years as director of communications and public affairs at the former Whitman-Walker Clinic (now Whitman-Walker Health), which at that time was the largest HIV/AIDS service provider in the D.C. metro area. Earlier, Mills spent eight years with the Human Rights Campaign, acting as a key spokesperson for the organization and building HRC's highly successful workplace advocacy program, its award-winning website, its magazine and the National Coming Out Project, among other responsibilities. She was also assistant vice president of the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.
