John R. Barr

Biography

 Chief Executive Officer, Mr. John R. Barr, has over 30 years of experience in the medical device industry. Prior to joining Surgical Specialties Corporation, Mr. Barr served as the Executive Vice President and President of Global Surgical at Bausch & Lomb (until the company’s 2013 acquisition by Valeant Pharmaceuticals). From 2005 to 2011 Mr. Barr rose from the role of Chief Operating Officer to Chief Executive Officer of AGA Medical Corporation, which went public in 2009. As Chief Executive Officer of V.I. Technologies, from 1997-2005, he led the company’s 2008 IPO. Mr. Barr is also a past President and Member of the Board of Directors of Haemonetics Corporation and began his career at Baxter Healthcare Corporation. Mr. Barr is a graduate of the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management-Northwestern University where he earned his Master’s degree in finance, accounting and economics. He earned his undergraduate degree in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
