Stephen L. Houff

Biography

 Dr. Stephen L. Houff is a pioneering hospitalist physician and recognized industry leader. From a solo hospital-based physician practice established in 1993, he built what is now the largest private hospitalist services provider in the nation. As founder and former chairman/CEO of Cogent HMG, Dr. Houff led an organization with over 1,000 clinical providers serving 130 health systems in 30 states. He has also served as a managed-care medical director at Harrington Benefits, a large third-party administrator serving self-insured employers. Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Houff completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
