Biography
As Vice President of Community and Government Relations, Dave Howell facilitates Wells Fargo's Arizona corporate philanthropic activities and its interaction with elected officials.Before joining Wells Fargo in 2003, Howell was vice president of Marketing & Communication for Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management. From 1993 until 2000, Howell served as senior vice president of Corporate Affairs for Bank of America. Based in Phoenix, Howell oversaw state government relations for that companyýs central region.Prior to joining Bank of America in 1993, Howell spent 20 years as a television journalist. From 1986 to 1993, he was news director for KSAZ-TV (then KTSP) in Phoenix. His broadcast journalism career also included positions as a news manager in Atlanta, Denver and Tulsa, Okla. His broadcasting career began in 1973 as a reporter/anchor for KGUN-TV in Tucson. Howell's honors as a journalist include an Emmy Award from the Atlanta Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in 1985. He is also a multiple Emmy Award nominee in Atlanta and Phoenix and was named the outstanding news director in the Phoenix market in 1990, 1991 and 1992 by the Phoenix Chapter of America Women in Radio and Television.Howell earned bachelor's and master's degrees in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. He has taught as an adjunct professor at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Telecommunications at Arizona State University since 1986.Howell serves on the boards of directors of the Valley of the Sun United Way, Phoenix Public Library Foundation, Arizona Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, Arizona Education Foundation, Arizona Business & Education Council, Phoenix Symphony Orchestra Association, the Phoenix Sister Cities Commission, Phoenix Theater, Phoenix Workforce Connection, and he is a member of the Fiesta Bowl Committee. Howell also is a member of the state's Conservation Acquisition Board.Howell and his family live in Phoenix.
