Tharak Rao

Biography

      Dr. Rao is a US trained rheumatologist with more than 15 years of pharma and biotech based clinical development experience, across drug and diagnostic sectors. Dr. Rao was Chief Medical Officer at Prometheus Labs prior to joining Assembly, where he directed clinical development and medical affairs to help advance their drug and diagnostic portfolio. Before this time, Tharak held roles of increasing responsibility at Novartis, Genentech and Pfizer. Tharak received his MBBS degree from the University of Madras, India, followed by Internal Medical residency and Rheumatology fellowship training at University of Texas-Houston and University of Michigan respectively. He also holds a MS in Microbiology and Immunology from the Medical University of South Carolina.
