Biography
Pat joined AOC in 2008 when hand and upper extremity surgeon Dr. Michael Shuler began his hand practice at AOC. Pat has over 25 years of experience in treating hand and upper extremity injuries. She achieved a Specialty Certification in Hand Therapy in 1993. Her career path has included working in a variety of settings including operating her own private practice clinic in the Athens community prior to joining AOC. Pat particularly enjoys the challenges of working with patients that have multiple trauma injuries to the hand, wrist and elbow as it allows her to fabricate custom splints and other devices to aid in their recovery and involves specific problem solving strategies to allow them to reach their highest level of function and return to their previous activities. Pat believes that early mobilization, education and individual patient responsibility all contribute to the best therapy outcome following an injury.
