Pratik Shah

Biography

Mr. Pratik Shah, Ph.D., was a Partner at Thomas, McNerney & Partners. Mr. Shah joined Thomas, McNerney & Partners on November 8, 2004. He has been the Chief Executive Officer and President of Auspex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since October 17, 2013. Mr. Shah Co-Founder at Kalypsys and served as its Chief Business Officer and was responsible for the overall strategy, business development and operations of it and oversaw raising more than $130 million in equity financings and corporate deals. Prior to Kalypsys, Mr. Shah was at McKinsey & Company, where he focused on biotechnology and venture capital, including projects such as the spin-off of a new venture from a leading biotechnology company, development of corporate strategies for informatics and biopharmaceutical companies and due diligence for mergers and acquisitions and venture investing. Prior to joining McKinsey, Mr. Shah was a Co-Founder and Vice President of Operations at NephRx Corporation. He was also involved in helping Arch Venture Partners with their biotechnology seed investments. Mr. Shah served as the Chairman at Auspex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from September 2008 to October 17, 2013 and has been its Director since June 2007. He served as a Director of Cebix Incorporated. He serves as a Director of SG Biofuels, Inc. He served as a director at CNS Therapeutics, Inc. Mr. Shah served as a Director of Ocera Therapeutics, Inc. since September 2005 until February 18, 2014. He was the Chairman of Altair Therapeutics, Inc. He has over 15 years of entrepreneurial and leadership experience in the biopharma industry. Mr. Shah has authored original research and review papers in the field of molecular biology. Mr. Shah holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of California at Irvine.
