David M. Wurzer

Biography

 Dr. David M. Wurzer, also known as Dave, CPA has been the Chief Investment Officer and Executive Vice President at Connecticut Innovations, Inc. since April 28, 2014. Mr. Wurzer is responsible for the management of the investment function, staffing needs, portfolio and risk management, outreach to stakeholders, budget planning and performance measurement. He served as a Senior Managing Director of Investments at Connecticut Innovations, Inc. since 2009. He served as Managing Director of Investments at Connecticut Innovations, Inc. He joined Connecticut Innovations in November 2009. During his tenure at the firm, he led syndicates for new investments, strengthened connections with investors, angels, portfolio companies and universities and managed a team of associates and senior associates. He joined Summit Corporation plc in 2009 and is responsible for sourcing and analyzing investment opportunities leading the investments in entrepreneurial high-tech ventures and advising portfolio companies, being a part of the venture team. Mr. Wurzer served with PricewaterhouseCoopers Corporate and Public Professional Services Cvba. He served as an Advisor at CuraGen Corporation since January 2008. He served as an Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at CuraGen Corporation from September 1997 to January 2008, Treasurer since September 1997 and also served as its Principal Accounting Officer. He was involved in negotiating strategic and business development alliances with several pharmaceutical and biotech companies, including Roche, Bayer and Amgen-Freemont (Abgenix).
