Biography
Dr. Jalane Meloun currently teaches full-time for Barry University in the HR, business, public administration, psychology, IT, and research methods disciplines. She is the past Academic Coordinator for the Administration Department and finds time to serve as the HR Subject Matter Expert on the Hollywood, FL, city’s Civil Services Board, where she has served as the chair and vice-chair. Dr. Meloun received her Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from the University of Akron’s top four nationally ranked program. Currently, she finds time to work with older adults, a favorite population of hers to educate. Dr. Meloun’s students have repeatedly nominated her for Applause Awards for teaching at Kent State University, and Apple Awards for her classroom performance at Barry University. Nationally, she has earned attention for her research on computer anxiety by winning the prestigious IPMAAC-Human Resources Paper Award in 2005, amongst three other Best Paper Awards. Currently, she hold both the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) credentials and is the 15th person in Florida to earn both designations. Dr. Meloun has continued to earn top credentials in her field of both the Society for Human Resource Management - Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and Project Management Professional (PMP). She also was a first place winner of the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) Strategic Management Best Practices Essay Contest. At Barry University, she serves as the SHRM advisor and directed her chapter to not only earned the Superior Merit Award, but also the Outstanding Chapter Award from the over 400+ active college chapters. For Barry University, Dr. Meloun teaches both the SPHR/PHR review course as well as the Essentials of Human Resources course. Dr. Meloun has presided and served on numerous boards of directors, including Human Resource Association of Broward County (HRABC), Greater Miami Society for Human Resource Management's (GMSHRM) Global Forum, and Sheridan Hills Elementary (SHE) PTO, as well as served as the parent representative on the SHE School Advisory Council (SAC).
