Joel Collazo

Biography

Joel Collazo MD, MS was born in Havana, Cuba and graduated from the Instituto Superior de Ciencias Medicas de La Habana in 1994, receiving the degree of Medical Doctor. After graduation, Dr. Collazo taught histology for medical and nursing students as part of his specialization in Histology from 1994 to 1997. In 1998 he moved to Lima, Peru where he practiced medicine in urban and rural areas of Lima and taught basic pathology and epidemiology to nursing students. Dr. Collazo also worked as invited faculty of the School of Public Health of Lima, responsible for seminars and lectures of epidemiology. At his arrival to the United States he continued developing his medical teaching career at Miami-Dade College in 2009 in charge of anatomy and physiology, and general biology. He has also taught other subjects in different private colleges and became an adjunct faculty of Broward College in 2015. Dr. Collazo became part of the faculty of the Biomedical Sciences Program at Barry University since August, 2016 as an adjunct Faculty teaching Histology and Medical Microbiology during the Fall of 2016. In January of 2017, Dr. Collazo became Assistant Professor at the BMS program, teaching Histology and other subjects (Epidemiology and Human Embryology). Dr. Collazo has a Master Degree in Clinical Biology with specialization in Laboratory Management from Barry University (2012-2014) and is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Health with specialization in Epidemiology at Walden University.
