Biography
Mehmet Türegün is an Associate Professor in Barry University’s Adrian Dominican School of Education, teaching graduate courses in Research Methods, Quantitative Methods, and Mathematical Problem Solving. Dr. Türegün has a BSc degree from Istanbul Technical University in Engineering, Master's degrees in Geophysics and Mathematics, and earned his PhD degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Oklahoma. Prior to joining Barry University, Dr. Türegün has taught mathematics at the college level for twenty-three years in Oklahoma. His areas of research in mathematics and statistics education include developing and assessing conceptual understanding, and curriculum development. He has been invited to serve on the assessment development team as a content area expert for the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) consortium, which is one of the multi-state consortiums formed to help states implement and assess the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). He also serves on Educational Testing Services (ETS) College Board for Advanced Placement (AP) Statistics Board of Examiners and Readers. Dr. Türegün has authored, and/or presented numerous papers/presentations at various international, national, and regional mathematics/technology conferences. As a recipient of Fulbright Grant funded by the United States Department of State and the United States Information Agency, Dr. Türegün has spent an academic year in Poland.
