Patrick V. Gaffney

Biography

Patrick V. Gaffney is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership. He received his PhD in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). Prior to that, he earned a BA in English from St. Benedict’s College and a MEd in Guidance & Counseling from the University of Missouri - Columbia. Since 1992, he has taught on a full-time and part-time basis for Barry University, St. Thomas University, St. Leo University, Broward Community College and Miami-Dade Community College. He has also worked in Native-American education for 20 years with the Yankton Sioux (South Dakota) for three years, the Turtle Mountain Chippewa (North Dakota) for seven years, the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians for four years and the Seminole Tribe of Florida on two different occasions for six years. Prior to coming to Barry University, he worked as a school superintendent/principal for ten years with the Choctaw and Seminole tribes. His favorite areas of teaching and research are in school finance and school personnel administration.
