Biography
rofessor González joined the Barry faculty in 1998. He earned a BA degree from the University of Alabama in 1987, MA from DePaul University in 1989, and PhD from DePaul in 1995. Area of Specialization: Ortega y Gasset, Spanish-Latin American Philosophy, German Idealism, Metaphysics, Phenomenology, Existentialism, Continental Philosophy, Philosophy of History, and Essentialism. Area of Competence: History of Philosophy, Ancient Philosophy, Modern Philosophy, Twentieth Century French Philosophy, Epistemology, History of Ideas, and English & Spanish Philosophical Literature. Languages: English and Spanish Professional Interests: Professor González's professional interests include the relationship that exists between subjectivity, self-knowledge, personal autonomy and philosophy; ancient Greek philosophy; the thought of Schopenhauer, Albert Camus, Louis Lavelle, Karl Jaspers and the relationship between form and philosophical vocation.
