Stephen J. Leacock

Biography

Before joining the Barry Law faculty, Professor Stephen Leacock taught at the University of the West Indies Faculty of Law, Barbados (1972-75); University of Cincinnati College of Law (1975-79); and DePaul University College of Law (1979-1998). While at DePaul, Professor Leacock was a Visiting Professor at the University of Indiana School of Law (Spring 1992) and Visiting Adjunct Professor (Spring 1998) at the University of Illinois College of Law. Professor Leacock teaches Contracts, Business Organizations, and International Business Transactions. His article “The Anatomy of Valuing Stock in Closely Held Corporations: Pursuing the Phantom of Objectivity into the New Millennium,” published in Columbia Business Law Review Vol. 2001 No. 1 162 (2001), was cited by the California Court of Appeal, Fourth District, Div. 1 in Maughan v. Correia, 210 Cal.App.4th 507, 521 (October 24, 2012) as well as by the United States District Court in Horn v. McQueen, 353 F. Supp.2d 785, 808 (W.D.Ky. Dec. 1, 2004). His article “The Joy of Access to the Zone of Inhibition: Republic of Argentina v. Weltover and the Commercial Activity Exception Under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act of 1976,” published in Vol. 5 of the Minnesota Journal of Global Trade (1996), was cited by the New York Supreme Court, New York County, in IBJ Schroder Bank & Trust Co. v Bank for Foreign Econ. Affairs of the USSR, 647 N.Y.S.2d 930, 933 (1996).
