Biography
Dr. Morrell received his B.S. degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute where he studied under Nobel Prize winners James M. Buchanan and James E. Meade. Prior to joining the Barry faculty in 1993, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Economist for Southeast Banking Corporation, and as a Financial Economist for the Federal Reserve System. Currently, he serves as a member of the Council of Economic Advisors to Governor Jeb Bush, and a Senior Research Fellow to Florida TaxWatch, a Tallahassee, Florida based public policy research institute. His research interests include governance in financial institutions, portfolio management models, and financial sector development in emerging market economies.
