Biography
Richard J. Gaton co-founded BDI Pharma in January 1995 originally as Blood Diagnostics, Inc. In February 2009, the company moved into a new facility in Carolina Research Park located in Columbia, South Carolina, and was rebranded as BDI Pharma, Inc. In July 2011, BDI Pharma, Inc., was recognized as one of the State’s “Top Large Firms” by the Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina. Mr. Gaton has served on the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Biotechnology Industry Organization (SCBIO) and multiple terms on the Board of Directors of the Healthcare Distribution Management Association (HDMA). He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Salvation Army, and as Vice Chair of the Heathwood Hall Episcopal School Board of Trustees. Mr. Gaton is a Liberty Fellow, class of 2012, a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network and a member of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO). He is currently involved with the Special Forces Charitable Trust and is a mentor with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Take One Make One (TOMO) program. Mr. Gaton is a graduate of the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
