Biography

Dr. Brandon Gates was born at Fort Sill Army Base in Oklahoma, but spent his formative years in Texas. He became interested in working with animals at a young age after the tragic loss of his family pet while his father was overseas for Desert Storm. Dr. Gates spent two years working at small animal clinics as a veterinary technician prior to veterinary school. Dr. Gates also worked at several cow-calf ranches and interned with a local dairy practice prior to veterinary school. Dr. Brandon Gates earned his Bachelors of Animal Science, then his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University. After graduation, he  completed an internship in Livestock Medicine and Surgery at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Gates also trained as a resident in Theriogenology (animal reproduction) working on livestock, horses, and small animals. Dr. Gates enjoys working with all species, but is most passionate about companion animals, especially working dogs. In his spare time he enjoys spending time outdoors, playing the drums, fly fishing, hiking, and exploring. His wife, K.C., is also a veterinarian and they have three children (ages 6, 4, and 1), three dogs, two horses, and hope to add chickens and goats within the next year.
