Biography

 Scott Fancher is Boeing senior vice president, Program Management, Integration & Development Programs. He will be responsible for management system deployment and oversight of all Boeing development programs, standing up a new Boeing-wide program management function, and leading key company growth and productivity initiatives. Named to this position in April 2016, Fancher is a member of the Boeing Executive Council and reports directly to Boeing Chairman, President and CEO Dennis Muilenburg. Prior to this assignment, Fancher served as senior vice president and general manager of Airplane Development when the organization was established in November 2012. In this position, he had responsibility for all commercial airplane development programs, leading the design, development, test and certification of the next generation of airplane models, including the 737 MAX, 777X and 787-10. Fancher also oversaw the 787-9 program throughout its development. Prior to leading Airplane Development, Fancher was vice president and general manager of the 777 and 777X programs. In this position he had overall responsibility for the 777 program and defining the next-generation 777X. From December 2008 to February 2012, Fancher was vice president and general manager of the 787 Dreamliner program. He led the successful completion of the Dreamliner’s development and entry into service. Before leading the 787 program, Fancher was vice president and general manager of Boeing Missile Defense Systems, from October 2007. Missile Defense Systems provides integrated missile defense solutions for all phases of ballistic missile threats and develops advanced directed energy technologies and systems. Fancher has held many executive leadership positions in engineering, research and development and program management during more than 35 years with Boeing. His experience includes program management, technology development, design, product development, manufacturing and flight test of aircraft and spacecraft systems. Fancher has worked in many product domains within Boeing including commercial aircraft, tactical aircraft, airborne reconnaissance, missile defense, spacecraft, launch vehicles, advanced electro-optics, and communication systems development. Fancher earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Washington University. He also earned a master’s of business administration from Washington University’s Executive MBA program. Fancher also has served in a Congressional Fellowship as a legislative assistant to former U.S. Senator John Glenn.
