Biography
Dr. Harris has practiced neuropathology in an academic setting since 1999, with specific expertise in muscle and nerve biopsy interpretation, central and peripheral nervous system tumors, CNS trauma, and neurodegenerative diseases. He is a leading expert in developing new approaches for better resection of CNS tumors and in investigation of the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disease pathology, especially amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Dr. Harris has authored and published over 150 peer-reviewed articles and abstracts, as well as several book chapters in diverse areas of experimental and clinical neuropathology. He serves on several scientific study sections and editorial boards for leading neuroscience and pathology journals. He is regularly invited to deliver lectures, seminars, and platform presentations at national and international conferences and courses. He is a course director and lecturer for several graduate and medical school courses and trains pathology and neurology residents and fellows at Georgetown and Howard Universities. Dr. Harris holds a Certificate of Qualification from the New York State Department of Health and is certified from the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology. He is a member of College of American Pathologists, the Society for Neuroscience, the American Association of Neuropathologists, and the North East ALS Consortium.
