Biography
Luisa joined Bristol-Myers Squibb in 2005 to lead the Immunology in vivo pharmacology, where she established, managed and mentored the team responsible for driving in vivo strategy and conducting all in vivo preclinical studies in Immunoscience. Since joining the company, Luisa has held positions of increasing responsibility and her teams have delivered a number of preclinical candidates for clinical studies. In her current role, Luisa chairs the Immunology Target Strategy Team, and leads a team responsible for implementing genomics/proteomics tools to support target identification, validation and biomarker projects. Prior to joining Bristol-Myers Squibb, Luisa held scientific leadership positions in the pharmaceutical industry. Luisa received her Ph.D. in Immunology from University of Miami School of Medicine, and completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Scripps Research Institute in San Diego, CA. Luisa is the inventor on several U.S. Patents and has authored or co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed research publications.
Research Interest
Luisa leads a Discovery Biology Group, which is comprised of teams of scientists focused on Immunology, Small Molecule Immuno-Oncology and Genomics. Luisa has oversight of preclinical development of small molecule and biologic drug candidates in immunology, and discovery of small molecule drug candidates in Immuno-Oncology.
