Biography
Mr. Gregory C. Fergus, also known as Gregg, has been the President and Chief Operating Officer of Ion Torrent Systems Incorporated since June 2009. Mr. Fergus serves as Chief Commercial Officer of Butterfly Network, Inc. Mr. Fergus has extensive life science operational experience, as well as industry knowledge based on his venture capital experience. He was an industry executive and has over 22 years of experience in the life sciences field, he contributed value-added operating experience. Mr. Fergus served as the Chief Commercial Officer of Stem Cell Products, Inc. and Cellular Dynamics International, Inc. since January 2007. Since January 2007, he served as a Consultant of Caden Biosciences, Inc. Since January 2007, Mr. Fergus served in a consulting role as an Executive-in-Residence at Baird Venture Partners, the U.S.-based venture capital arm of Baird Private Equity. He involved in sourcing, evaluating and managing new investment opportunities at BVP. He served as a Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Caden Biosciences, Inc. From 2005 to 2007, Mr. Fergus served as a Senior Vice President of Sales and Global Operations at Affymetrix Inc., where he was responsible for worldwide commercial development. At Affymetrix, he also held the positions of Vice President and General Manager of North America from 2002 to 2005 and a Vice President of worldwide sales from 1998 to 2002. Prior to Affymetrix, Mr. Fergus held high-level commercial roles at VWR International, LLC, Covance Inc. and Amersham, GE Healthcare from 1988 to 1998. Mr. Fergus has been a Director of Frontage Laboratories, Inc. and NimbleGen Systems, Inc., since March 2007. He serves as Board Member of Butterfly Network, Inc. He has been a Director of Roche NimbleGen, Inc. since March 2007. He serves as a Member of Healthcare Advisory Board at Baird Venture Partners. He serves on the Board of the Wisconsin Technology Council and Special Olympics Wisconsin. He founded GenTel Biosciences, Inc. Mr. Fergus holds a Bachelor of Science in Bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin--Madison
