Eric Mehiel
Professor
Aerospace Engineering
California State Polytechnic University
United States of America
Biography
Dr. Mehiel attended UCSB as an undergraduate where he received his BS in Physics. While at UCSB, Dr. Mehiel performed research with the Material Research Laboratory on using DNA molecules to form mico-fluid channel. After graduating from UCSB, Dr. Mehiel went onto The University of Colorado, Boulder to study the dynamics and control of space-based structural systems and adaptive control. Dr. Mehiel has been at Cal Poly for over 10 years and was working at Boeing prior to joining the faculty at Cal Poly. Dr. Mehiel is currently developing algorithms for autonomous control of spacecraft and aircraft combining the navigation problem with adaptive control techniques. In addition, he teaches courses in Dynamics and Control for both aircraft and spacecraft.
