Biography
Suzanne Spear, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Public Health at California State University, Northridge. She received her doctorate in Public Health from the Fielding School of Public Health at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Spear has conducted research in the public health field for 15 years at Louisiana State University, RAND Corporation, University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and the University of Southern California. Her research focuses on public health approaches to substance abuse, inter-organizational networks, health and human services integration, and implementation of evidence-based practices. At UCLA, Dr. Spear directed the Access to Care program that successfully integrated substance use screening and brief interventions into routine care at the university counseling center. She is currently a Co-Investigator on an NIH-funded study to measure sustainability of prevention programs. Dr. Spear teaches both undergraduate and graduate MPH courses in program planning, health behavior theory, and substance abuse.
