Biography
Dr. James B. Groce, III is Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. He serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine, UNC Chapel Hill, and as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Anticoagulation at Cone Health, Greensboro, NC. Dr. Groce earned his PharmD degree from CPHS and completed a general practice residency in hospital pharmacy at the Moses Cone Hospital-Cone Health. He is a board-certified anticoagulation care provider. His current responsibilities at CPHS include clinical practice in internal medicine at his practice site where he is responsible for teaching pharmacy students during internal medicine rotations while rounding with the Internal Medicine Teaching Service affiliated with the UNC School of Medicine. In addition to his inpatient responsibilities, he manages an outpatient anticoagulation management clinic where he provides a systematic means of oversight for all anticoagulants his patients may be taking. Dr. Groce He has been published and cited in peer-reviewed medical and pharmacy journals as well as textbooks of pharmacy for his expertise in anticoagulation management. He served as the only pharmacist upon the Technical Advisory Panel to the Joint Commission that developed and promulgated the core measures for venous thromboembolic disease (VTE) in 2008.
