He is a professor of Chemical and Systems Biology and Biochemistry. He is a member of Bio-X. He is a Chair of Stanford University School of Medicine - Chemical & Systems Biology (2006 - 2011)and Associate Chair of Stanford University School of Medicine - Chemical & Systems Biology (2011 - 2012).He has done B.A. from Williams College, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (1976)and Ph.D.from Stanford University, Chemistry (1984).He is a Doctoral Dissertation Reader (AC) of Richard She.He is a Postdoctoral Faculty Sponsor of Xianrui Cheng, Julia Kamenz, Minjung Kang, Connie Phong
