He is a Professor of Molecular & Cellular Physiology. He is a member of Bio-X, Stanford Neurosciences Institute. He is a Chair of Stanford University School of Medicine - Molecular & Cellular Physiology (2004 - 2009).He got MERIT Award from National Institute of General Medical Sciences (July 2012 - present).He has done B.S.from Yale University, Molec Biophysics & Biochem (1978) and Ph.D. from California Inst. of Technology in Neurobiology (1985)
