He is a Professor of Biochemistry and member of Bio-X. He is a Chairman of Stanford University School of Medicine - Biochemistry (1998 - 2006).He is a Emma Pfeiffer Merner Professor of Medical Sciences, Stanford University School of Medicine (2012 - Present).He got merit award from National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disorders (1999-2009) .He is a President of American Society for Cell Biology (2003)and American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (2010-2012).He is a fellow of American Academy of Arts and Sciences (2013)
